I'm glad that you have chosen to take an important step toward managing your mental health symptoms. Allow me to introduce myself, my name is Heather Pruitt and I am a licensed clinical social work associate. I create a warm inviting environment for my clients to process their mental health symptoms without judgment.

I specialize in cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy, and acceptance commitment therapy. I primarily have experience treating anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, and obsessive-compulsive disorder.

Here is a little about me: I'm originally from Alamance County. I am married, have five children, and have two grandchildren with one on the way. I enjoy beekeeping, reading, and international travel. I also have a Havanese dog named Figgy. When I'm not working, I love spending time with my family and friends.

Experience

Therapist’s Qualifications and Clinical Background

Heather earned a Master’s in Social Work degree with a concentration in Clinical Social Work from the University of Kentucky in 2022. She received her Bachelor of Science in Social Work degree with a minor in psychology from Liberty University in 2021.  She has accumulated over 1100 practicum hours as a practicing psychotherapist working under the direct supervision of Heather Simpson LCSW, where she gained experience working with diverse populations treating a wide range of mental health issues. She is experienced working with clients who carry diagnoses of Autism Spectrum Disorder, Anxiety, ADHD, Bipolar Disorder, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Major Depressive Disorder, Panic Disorder, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, and Somatic Disorders.
