About

Jordan Austin, PhD, LCMHCA

Contract Therapist

Hello there, and welcome! I am glad you are here. My name is Jordan, and I am excited to be a new resident of Wilmington, North Carolina. For many years, the coast has served as a place of recovery and healing for me, and I am overjoyed to be able to support clients in such a restorative environment.

My professional and educational experience includes both master’s and doctoral level training in counseling. Throughout this journey, my utmost passion has revolved around aiding clients, particularly couples and families, in finding new ways of understanding and interacting with themselves and others. Our collaborative goals are often to shift relationships and experiences from tumultuous, discomforting, or distressing into ones that are safe, secure, and fulfilling.

I have received extensive training in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), which is a therapeutic modality grounded in the importance of having secure connections, or attachments, towards ourselves and others. If we are experiencing insecure attachments, then, of course, we find this distressing as we are hard-wired to connect and belong with others. EFT provides a road map for moving from places wrought with conflict and difficult emotions into new destinations of healthy interactions, connection, and fulfillment.

In addition, I have experience working with in substance use treatment settings, specifically 12-Step Recovery. I also have completed coursework and training around working with experiences of grief and trauma
