About
Jordan Mitchener, MA, LCMHC
Contract Therapist
Welcome! I am a North Carolina Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor. A native to the surrounding Wilmington area, my husband and I recently became parents to a baby boy. As a new mother, I know that motherhood can bring many transitions and joys, as well as challenges. I am excited about helping new mothers learn how to navigate through their role and manage the different difficulties and emotions that motherhood can bring.
My passion is helping children, families, and adults achieve their goals and live a healthy and fulfilling life. I believe a non-judgmental and collaborative therapeutic approach is vital for creating change. Working together with individuals and families is important in order to help them build on their strengths, reach their goals and strengthen family relationships.
I specialize in working with children, adolescents, and young adults who are experiencing issues related to anxiety, depression, ADHD, mood disorders, ODD, adjustment, trauma, loss, and behavioral or academic concerns at home or in the school setting. I utilize evidenced based treatment strategies such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and incorporate other techniques such as Motivational Interviewing, Play Therapy, Art Therapy, Structural Family Therapy, and Solution-Focused Therapy.
