Contract Therapist

Hello!  My name is Amber Doby and I am glad you are here!  Life can be challenging and most of us need help at one time or another. My passion is helping adults as well as children and their families overcome barriers by empowering them with the skills and strategies to be the best they can be. I offer a safe place to process thoughts and feelings and be heard and understood.

I have over 20 years of experience working with children and families in community and educational settings.  In the school setting, I often work with students with autism, ADHD, anxiety, depression, and behavioral concerns to effectively use coping skills and emotion regulation to improve their success. As a solution-focused, strengths-based therapist, I use multiple modes of therapy including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and play therapy.

Life can be challenging at times and these difficulties can negatively impact our mental health and relationships. I am here to provide support so that you do not have to face these challenges alone. I believe clients are the experts of their own lives. Together, we will work to explore experiences, create an individualized plan and learn new skills/tools.

Therapist’s Qualifications and Clinical Background

I am originally from West Virginia and obtained my Bachelor of Social Work from Marshall University in Huntington, WV.  I obtained my Master of Social Work from Pennsylvania Western University, Edinboro PA.   In addition to being a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate, I am licensed as a School Social Worker.  I am certified as a Level 3 Primary Care Triple P Provider for Triple P- Positive Parenting Program.  And, because I know that your children are the most precious resources and feel that we should always be prepared for any medical emergency in any setting, I am American Red Cross certified for Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED.
