Contract Therapist

"We delight in the beauty of the butterfly, but rarely admit the changes it has gone through to achieve that beauty.”

I'm delighted you're considering Reclaim Counseling and Wellness. I'm Imani McPhatter, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate, ready to accompany you on your journey toward understanding and healing. Just as a meal's diverse ingredients combine to create a culinary masterpiece, our experiences and characteristics blend to define us. This belief guides my approach to therapy, where I strive to understand and celebrate the unique blend that makes each individual.

My professional journey has allowed me to work with all ages across various life stages, embodying a deep commitment to nurturing growth and resilience in every phase of life. I enjoy being on the journey with children creating space for them to playfully express themselves while developing new tools. I appreciate the journey of adolescents and teens by creating space to figure out who they are while expressing themselves in those new avenues. Lastly, I appreciate the adult journey as it creates an environment of new discovery and restoration.

I began my career with the Department of Social Services as a Foster Care Social Worker working with families in a vulnerable space to provide guidance on their journey of family and mental restoration. I have experience as a Family Centered Treatment Therapist and Outpatient Therapist guiding and supporting families and individuals on their path to mental wellness. My most recent work with the Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools as a School Based Mental Health Therapist has given me the privilege of supporting elementary and middle school-aged children directly in their learning environments. This experience has enriched my practice, offering insights into the challenges and opportunities faced by young people today. It's taught me the importance of creating supportive spaces for children to express themselves and develop new coping tools. These are insights I bring into every therapeutic relationship. My approach is anchored in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, complemented by other methods tailored to each unique journey.

Beginning your journey may include significant changes but remember that those changes are what make you a beautiful individual inside and out just like that butterfly. I look forward to hearing from you and answering any questions.
