About

Hi everyone! My name is Joden Ford and I am a fully licensed clinical social worker in both North
Carolina and Maryland. When I'm not practicing and helping my amazing clients, I am spending time with
my pups and husband. My absolute favorite hobby is reading all types of fiction novels, especially with a
good cup of coffee. My main goal is to provide a warm presence in sessions to make you feel at ease and
comfortable, especially since coming to therapy can be a challenging step for many individuals.

My experience began back in 2017 when I started as a school-based therapist in a high school. For 5
years, I worked with ages 14-18 within the school system and addressed issues such as depression,
anxiety, relationship issues, and eating disorders. While working with adolescents, I found a passion for
helping clients specifically with eating disorders and assisting them on their journey to recovery.
Treating eating disorders has become a specialty within my practice after dedicating much of my time to
trainings, working with specific cases such as Anorexia Nervosa, Bulima Nervosa, Binge Eating Disorder,
and OSFED (other specified eating or feeding disorder), and making it a mission to provide mental health
services from an HAES (Health at Every Size) perspective. Over the past year, I have transitioned into
working with eating Disorders present in both adults and adolescents. When working with clients who
are diagnosed with an eating disorder, I prioritize working with other professionals to support that client
such as primary care doctors, nutritionists, dieticians, and psychiatrists. I believe assisting clients in
addition to making sure other supports are in place is key to a successful recovery. I would love for my
clients to know that I am extremely aware eating disorders do not have a specific “look” and all
feelings/thoughts about food or your body will be heard and validated.

The modalities I use within my practice consist of CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), CBT-E (CBT
specifically for eating disorders), Motivational interviewing, and aspects from Psychodynamic Theory.
These frameworks help me assist individuals to understand their emotions, patterns of behavior, and
learn new ways to behave/function in a world that can be so challenging. I am so excited to meet you
amazing individuals and help you achieve your therapy goals.

Therapist’s Qualifications and Clinical Background

I earned a Masters degree in social work from Salisbury University In Maryland. While completing my masters, I interned as a school-based therapist working with adolescents. In addition to providing school-based therapy, I provided family therapy and group therapy as well during this time. I received in depth training in order to provide cognitive behavioral therapy, Cognitive behavioral therapy specifically for eating disorders, motivational interviewing, and ways to implement psychodynamic theory with clients. After graduating with my masters and receiving licensure, I was hired as a school-based therapist and received much of my experience working with teens. Over the past two years, I have gained experience working with adults and expanding my expertise with eating disorders.
